These two pieces were designed and illustrated for use in promotional materials and ads for the opera performances, Tosca and Pagliacci.
Tosca, composed by Giacomo Puccini, is one of the greats. I try to capture the moment when Tosca realizes that her sweetheart, Cavaradossi, had been wrongly executed and she would soon exact revenge through "Tosca's Kiss". This tragic scene takes place on top of Castel Sant' Angelo in Rome. The center piece of this castle is the famous statue of Archangel Michael. I juxtaposed it with Tosca to symbolize the "avenging angel" and how she will soon take flight through her grief.
